Cyprus Coastal Trail Half

FIRST OF ITS KIND IN CYPRUS 

​

Cyprus Trail Runners announces the launch of the first-ever coastal trail half marathon on the island, starting at the small fishing harbour at Alaminos and following a course that winds along tracks, across beaches, over pebbled coves and alongside fields to the finish line on a sandy beach in Meneou.

​

The 21.2km race will be held on Sunday, December 18 starting from Alaminos at 10.00 am. The finish will be at the popular Meneou Tourist Kiosk, venue of our monthly beach time trials.

​

Registration from 8.15 am at the Meneou Tourist Kiosk, and, by arrangement with us, from 9.45 am at Alaminos.

​

Runners will need to be dropped at the start, after which their seconds can head over to the Meneou Tourist Kiosk, where at 11.00 am we will hold a beach time trial, offering the usual distances of 8km/5km/2km -- something for all the family.

​

Limited transport will be available from the beach café for those runners unable to get themselves to the start -- we will ask runners with transport possibilities to offer rides to others.

​

We are also investigating the possibility of hiring a bus, if there is enough demand (send a mail to moonturtles@rocketmail.com if you would like to make use of the bus -- cost will be about 3 euros per person)

​

We will provide a refreshment point at about the halfway mark, as well as a free drink of your choice (tea, coffee or soda) at the finish.

​

To add to the festive atmosphere, runners are urged to wear a Christmas hat, a pair of reindeer antlers or maybe something red and sparkly.

​

Stay afterwards for a meal and a drink inside the warm pub for some Christmas cheer and the prize giving.
