Kids Trail Running and Orienteering Festival
March 24, 2018 - Athalassa Park, Nicosia
Let the children run wild at the first ever trail running and orienteering event especially for children to be held in Cyprus. All children 16 and under are welcome to participate. The focus will be on fun and adventure with race distances of 1km, 2km, or 5km suitable for all ages and abilities.
There will also be exciting orienteering challenges specially designed for children by Orientaction.
The races will start from 2pm, with registration from 12 noon. Prize giving will will be at 4pm, with awards for the overall winners as well as age group winners.
The cost will be 5 euros per child for the 2km and 5km, but with a maximum of 10 euros per family (3rd, 4th etc children run free). The 1km event, for children under 6 only, will be free.
Money raised will be donated to a charity to be selected by our Cyprus Trail Kids, who are taking a leading role in the organization of this event.

PROGRAMME
The programme for Saturday's exciting afternoon of running and orienteering is as follows:
1pm: Registration next to the kiosk at the play area in Athalassa Park, hospital/Latsia entrance (we will be posting detailed directions to the correct entrance of Athalassa Park)
From 1pm onwards: Orienteering: Children and their parents/friends/family can take part in the orienteering challenges set up by Orientaction all afternoon (5 euros per person, discount for family groups)
2pm: 5km race, for all children 16 and under. (5 euros)
3pm: 2km races (Junior - 12 and under, Senior 13-16) (5 euros)
3:30pm: 1km race -- for children 6 and under only. (Free) Parents may accompany young children on this 'fun' run.
4pm: Prize giving: There will be prizes for race winners, age group prizes and lucky draw prizes which all runners will be eligible to win.

How to get there
FROM NICOSIA:

Head out on the A1 highway direction Larnaca and immediately take the Ikea turnoff.
At the roundabout go straight (12 o’clock), past the hospital (which will be on your left).
At the next roundabout (a big and busy one) take the very first turnoff left (sign says Cyprus University)
Go through a set of traffic lights. At the bottom of the dip turn left (a brown information sign will point to Athalassa Park). Proceed to the car park. Walk across the footbridge and enter what is marked on the map as Athalassa National Park Playground. We will be near the kiosk. You can’t miss us.
FROM LARNACA/LIMASSOL

As you reach Nicosia’s outer limits on the A1 highway take the Troodos turnoff. Stick to the right lane. Do NOT head off to the left here. Enter the roundabout and take second exit left -- the one that heads towards Leroy Merlin. After passing Leroy Merlin (on your right) you will reach a big and busy roundabout. Enter the roundabout and take the second exit left (sign says Cyprus University).
